Kankaikaku

It is said that the wooden water tower built by Tokugawa Yorinobu on the seaside of Mt. Sense during the Keian period (1648-1652) was built for the purpose of worshiping Kimii-dera Temple from a distance. The view from this tower is beautiful, especially in the morning and evening, giving you the feeling of tranquility as if time has stopped. The current building was rebuilt with concrete after it was washed away by Typhoon Muroto in 1963.
